MRG Studio and Morris+Company are currently working on a new development of affordable housing in the historic Becontree Estate area of Dagenham. The landscape comprises publicly accessible open space, communal spaces and streets, a play space and private amenity spaces.  The design strategy takes inspiration from the natural and community heritage of the Becontree Estate, connecting and contributing to
the local ecology. Barking And Dagenham Council unanimously resolved to grant planning permission to the scheme in April 2020

The planting scheme has been designed in response to the sun-shade analysis and in coordination with the buildings’ design to create different character areas that make the most of the available space on the ground floor and L1 terraces. Planting will be chosen for its easy maintenance and durability in the urban environment. Shared paving unites pedestrian and vehicle circulation
