St William Clarendon

London, UK

In the heart of north London, a new 12-acre city village is being delivered by St William (Berkeley Group). This former gasholder site identified as part of the Haringey Heartlands Opportunity Area, is being transformed into a cultural quarter. Clarendon will deliver over 1,700 new homes, 125,000 sq ft of new commercial space, a public park, a neighbourhood square and landscaped private courtyards.

MRG Studio is working on Phase 4, which will deliver a key piece of public realm to the overall masterplan. The new neighbourhood square will be central to creating an inclusive sense of place that supports the needs of the local and wider community, a place where Clarendon residents and their neighbours can be together. Roof terraces will also provide private communal amenity spaces for the residents. Each will provide smaller play opportunities and seating areas in communal garden settings for residents of all ages

Material choices, ecologically valuable planting and motifs that reference the site’s heritage will all contribute to creating a strong neighbourhood character that serves the community in its everyday needs and occasional special events.

The proposed landscape will strengthen coherence with the existing neighbourhood and link to emerging proposals on adjacent sites.
