Beaverhall House
Edinburgh, UK
MRG Studio are currently working with HUB and Shedkm Architects to develop the site of Beaverhall House, Edinburgh, into a residential-led mixed-use development comprising BTR apartments and creative workspace on the ground floor.
The landscape proposals aim to:
• Provide truly useful amenities for residents and workspace tenants
• Create welcoming spaces to be shared with neighbours
• Reflect the site’s rich heritage in enduring and meaningful ways
• Contribute to local ecological networks and biodiversity
• Manage surface water in tandem with habitats and biodiversity
At Ground Floor level each courtyard will make reference to one aspect of the area´s industrial heritage, which includes cooperages, tanneries and mills. Each space will use materials and richly layered planting that relate to these themes.
The proposed landscape for the roof terrace draws on motifs and patterns relating to the milling theme, with elements incorporated from the courtyards below to balance coherence and variety in the different spaces along its length.
